How you will make an impact:  


The Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LSLPG) within Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Cost Accountant II in San Jose, Costa Rica.  The Cost Accountant will be a key partner and support all businesses in tracking, controlling, and recording adjustments for Demo inventory and GIT.  This role will also provide timely support for E&O, Cost Roll, and CMV processes. 

What you will do: 

  • Track and depreciate Demo inventory for NA.  Lead businesses in reconciling Demo inventory account balances and ensure the correct addition and timely retirement of Demo inventory. Lead Physical Inventories of Demo inventory as needed.  Reconcile all Demo inventory accounts each month. 

  • Prepare journal entry to record global E1 Intercompany Goods In-Transit (GIT) during the monthly close Reconcile all GIT accounts during closing. 

  • Support the Cost Accounting Team in E&O, CMV and Global Cost Roll processes, including the loading of large amounts of data into different ERP systems. 

  • Build reporting templates and perform ad hoc analyses as assigned by the Finance Director, Ops Finance, or the businesses. 

  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. 

How will you get here: 
 

Requirements: 

  • Advanced College Bachelor student related with the position or 5 years of experience in similar positions 

  • B2+ English Level 

  • Experience in Cost Accounting and Manufacturing is preferred. 

  • Experience in JD Edwards E1 and SAP ERP systems is required, preferably in Costing 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in Excel advanced formulas and PowerPoint 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Must be able to interface effectively at all levels and demonstrate good judgment, and tact and diplomacy with internal customers. Self-initiative, strong organization skills, and a positive attitude are helpful. 

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization is preferred. 

  • Minimal travel required.
