How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
1● Provides Environmental and Regulatory oversight and support for the ALAM APAC local sites and HSES in Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, with particular expertise in the local country regulatory processes.
● Joins the Global Environmental & Regulatory Team in Strategic Planning and development of Global Environmental and Regulatory Procedures and Management Systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Air Liquide and ALAM standards.
● Develops approaches to meet regulatory requirements with new construction, process changes, etc. including writing permit applications and negotiating with regulators with local HSES.
● Evaluates the Environmental and regulatory impacts of capital projects at the initial stage, conducts environmental risk assessments, determines applicable regulatory and permitting requirements, ensures regulatory approvals are timely and permitting and regulatory requirements are implemented.
● Identifies needs for environmental or regulatory consultants and works with them to ensure compliance and accomplish business needs.
● Leads the APAC Region sites in the Global Industrial Compliance Program including Regulatory Watch and Regulatory Tracking to identify applicable upcoming requirements; and, develops and implements related compliance programs and management systems supporting the APAC sites.
● Keeps current with the sites on changing laws,regulations, and regulatory agencies practices.
● Partners with the sites to drive strategic global environmental compliance programs and initiatives.
● Supports sites projects, permitting, and regulatory authority reviews and approvals.
● Develops, communicates and trains on environmental programs, processes, best practices, and tools to assure compliance and improve management systems.
● Works with Regional Operations HSES to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements. Provides technical direction, guidance as well as implementation support.
● Integrates environmental management and sustainability issues into procedures and practices at local and global level.
● Ensures regulatory inspection readiness.
● Provides oversight and supports communications with local and national regulatory agencies. Advises on and supports regulatory negotiations when needed with sites HSES and Leaders.
● Supports and reviews site environmental permitting and reporting (local or nationally-required reports), monitoring and inspections for continued environmental program enhancement.
● Areas include air, wastewater, surface water, groundwater, hazardous and nonhazardous waste management, storm water, spill prevention & control, and emergency response reporting.
● Forms effective partnerships with other functions to align on shared strategies and goals.
● Works with Product Stewardship, Product Management and Sales to provide customer support and ensure compliance on HSES/Regulatory issues for handling and use of ALAM products.
● Supports the Global Product Stewardship Manager as needed for APAC product registrations.
● Works within the ALAM and Air Liquide APAC Region and across ALAM to leverage improvements and learnings.

Required Qualifications:
● Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Applicable Engineering, Science or Technical field.
● 7+ years Industry Environmental Regulatory Experience.
● Demonstrated technical knowledge in air, wastewater, water, stormwater, and solid/hazardous waste management systems and controls.
● Experience working with highly hazardous chemicals; toxic, flammable, pyrophoric in a global environment.
● Experience in interpreting and meeting APAC local and national regulatory requirements with depth in one to two countries’ regulations.
● Knowledgeable in the basics of product stewardship and APAC related regulation.
● Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task.
● Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and changing priorities.
● Able to learn technical chemical processes quickly in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
● Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in written and verbal formats with stakeholders at multiple levels in the business, across languages and local cultures.
● Ability to work and travel regionally.
