Description of Work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution in Halifax County, NC. This position monitors all expenditures for a medium custody facility to include management of a minimum custody facility which is managed within the scope of the larger institution.  This position is involved in the following:  accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budget control which includes fund availability and budget transfer request.  This position is responsible for all aspects of E-Procurement and NCFS for needed supplies and equipment, processing requisitions, purchase orders, expense vouchers, welfare expenditures, canteen, special funds accounts, contracts, and P-Card purchase as well as reconciling the P-Cards accounts.  This position will also be responsible for generating financial reports, compiling financial information for statistical reports and assist in budget preparation.  This position serves as a resource on fiscal policy and procedures, ensures goods and services are ordered & received on the DAC Accounting System, works closely with DAC staff, DAC Administration, Controller's Office, Purchasing, and vendors regarding fiscal activities.  This position will perform all backup duties for the Accounting Clerk I that handles inmate trust fund and incentive wage. Assist management staff, when directed, with other additional duties as needed.

Salary Range: $31,200- $53,812

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Documented knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices. 

  • Demonstrated experience processing accounts payable in an accounting software application.

  • Documented knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs.
