A Day in the Life
As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of materials and components that power life-changing medical technologies.
This role sits at the intersection of supplier performance, product quality, and innovation — partnering across engineering, manufacturing, and global suppliers to drive excellence from concept through commercialization.

In this role, you will:
- Ensure suppliers consistently deliver high-quality parts, materials, and services that meet Medtronic standards
- Lead supplier qualification activities and support Certified Supplier Programs to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency
- Monitor supplier performance across the manufacturing lifecycle and proactively resolve quality issues
- Develop and execute risk-based supplier audit plans to ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, systems, and performance, providing actionable feedback and driving continuous improvement
- Partner cross-functionally to address supplier-related challenges and implement sustainable corrective actions
For programs supporting new product development, you will:
- Provide Supplier Quality Engineering support throughout the NPD lifecycle, ensuring robust supplier readiness and defect prevention
- Partner with Component Engineering and Post-Market Quality teams to deliver compliant, high-quality components
- Drive strategies for product quality, supplier qualification, and continuous improvement from early design through launch
- Collaborate to develop:
- Product acceptance sampling strategies
- Approved Supplier List (ASL) coordination
- Supplier-Owned Quality (SOQ) frameworks
- Control Plans for new products
- Define receiving inspection requirements and support validation of internal test methods
Must Have: Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR
- Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR
- PhD with 0 years relevant experience
Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD) or product transfers
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971, or FDA regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills using methodologies like Root Cause Analysis, DMAIC, or 8D
- Experience with supplier audits, qualification, and performance management
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
