Job Description

The VP of Programming & Experience sets the creative vision, strategic direction, and cultural heartbeat for experiences across the Beemok Hospitality Collection, including The Charleston Place, The Cooper, American Gardens, Sorelle, and future properties. This executive role is responsible for driving the emotional and experiential expression of the brand, from programming and seasonal moments to ambiance, décor, and immersive storytelling, ensuring a cohesive, elevated, and distinctly BHC experience across the portfolio.

A senior strategic leader and brand steward, the VP partners closely with BHC Head of Brand, Hotel Managing Directors, marketing and PR teams, as well as BHC ownership to shape the tone, vibe, themes, and aesthetic direction, and works in seamless collaboration to translate experiences into compelling narratives that drive awareness, engagement, and emotional connection. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role leads a multidisciplinary team, including the Programming Manager and the Area Director of Fitness & Activities, and serves as the enterprise owner of all holiday décor and seasonal programming portfolio wide.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Strategy & Brand Stewardship

  • Create and execute the portfolio-wide programming and experience strategy, ensuring alignment with BHC’s brand ethos, design sensibility, and long-term business objectives.

  • Serve as a key creative partner to senior leadership, set the tone, vibe, and experiential point of view across properties.

  • Establish a cohesive experiential framework that balances consistency with property-specific expression.

  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all programming, décor, and experiences feel intentional, elevated, and distinctly BHC.

Programming Vision & Portfolio Oversight

  • Oversee the creation of a year-round programming portfolio encompassing wellness, lifestyle, culture, culinary, fitness, recreation, family, and seasonal experiences.

  • Ensure programming reflects sense of place, seasonal rhythms, and Charleston’s cultural heritage while remaining relevant to a modern luxury guest.

  • Guide teams in developing signature experiences that are scalable across properties and adaptable for future growth.

Holiday, Seasonal & Signature Moments

  • Own the vision, creative direction, and execution oversight of all holiday décor and seasonal programming across the entire portfolio.

  • Lead the conceptual development of marquee moments, including but not limited to:

    • SEWE

    • Credit One Charleston Open

    • Spoleto Festival USA

    • Easter, July 4th, and the full Holiday Season (Thanksgiving–New Year’s)

  • Set aesthetic direction for décor, ambiance, and thematic storytelling, ensuring a cohesive and memorable guest experience.

  • Partner with Events, F&B, Spa, and Operations leaders to deliver seamless, high-impact execution during peak periods.

Marketing, PR & Storytelling Integration

  • Work hand-in-hand with Marketing and PR to align programming, décor, and experience with brand storytelling, campaigns, and media strategy.

  • Ensure experiential moments are designed with visibility and narrative in mind—photogenic, distinctive, and press-worthy.

  • Align calendars and creative concepts with marketing launches, digital content, and communications plans.

  • Serve as a thought partner in elevating BHC’s reputation for experiential excellence.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a senior team, including the Programming Manager and the Area Director of Fitness & Activities, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Provide strategic oversight while empowering leaders to execute at a high level.

  • Partner with Operations and Finance on staffing models, budgets, forecasting, and long-range planning.

  • Build scalable structures, standards, and best practices to support portfolio growth.

Innovation, Performance & Growth

  • Champion innovation in experiential programming, décor, and guest engagement.

  • Evaluate performance through guest feedback, engagement metrics, and qualitative insights to continually refine offerings.

  • Stay attuned to global trends in luxury hospitality, wellness, lifestyle, and experiential design.

  • Play a key role in new property openings and brand expansion, ensuring experiential integrity from day one.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in luxury hospitality, lifestyle programming, experiential design, or brand experience.

  • Proven success operating at a senior or executive level, shaping strategy across multiple properties or brands.

  • Exceptional brand sensibility and aesthetic judgment, with a strong point of view on vibe, décor, and experiential storytelling.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Marketing, PR, Operations, and Executive Leadership.

  • Experience owning complex seasonal calendars, holiday programming, and large-scale signature moments.

  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and long-term planning.

  • Inspirational, decisive leader with the ability to balance vision with disciplined execution.

  • Polished communicator and relationship-builder with executive presence.
