Your Opportunity
As a Summer Intern, you’ll:
Work on real-world projects alongside experienced engineers and industry leaders
Gain exposure to major rail and transport infrastructure programs
Build technical capability across civil engineering and multidisciplinary design
Participate in our IMPACT Program—a structured experience including networking, social events, and industry engagement
This 12-week paid internship is designed as a possible pathway into a Graduate role upon completion of your degree.
Projects You Could Contribute To
North Western Program Alliance (NWPA)
KBR is the Principal Design Partner in this long-standing alliance with LXRP, Metro Trains Melbourne, and John Holland.
Since 2017, NWPA has delivered $3 billion in transport infrastructure, with work secured through 2027, including:
Melbourne Airport Rail – Stage 1
Level crossing removals (e.g. Ruthven, Seaford)
Major viaduct-style bridge projects
Future large-scale rail developments
Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East
KBR is also part of the SRL East Linewide Alliance, helping deliver one of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects.
SRL East includes:
26km of twin underground tunnels
Six new stations (Cheltenham to Box Hill)
Infrastructure enabling 70,000 new homes and connected communities
KBR contributes to:
Multi-disciplinary design and systems integration
Track, civil, structures, and drainage design
Power systems (HV/LV), overhead lines, and tunnel infrastructure
Safety assurance and engineering coordination

To be eligible, you must:
Be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor’s degree
Be studying Civil Engineering
Hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
