Inside the Role

Team member in our Fuel Systems Design team responsible for development, validation, problem resolution, and documentation on Freightliner and Western Star products. This team is responsible for all fuels, including diesel, octane, natural gas, and hydrogen. Component responsibilities include diesel fuel water separators, fuel coolers, and high pressure fuel lines to the pre-SCR, octane evaporative cannisters and fuel pumps, fuel filter and coolant plumbing for natural gas, and fuel line plumbing for all fuels.

What You Drive at DTNA

·         Current projects include 2027 fuel water separator specifications and compatibility for PARs 47A and 46Q, new fuel plumbing for the Cummins B7.2, and potential fuel plumbing and tee impacts and complexity reduction in PARs 47F and 47V. Also support development of L9N fuel systems in PAR 47F.

·         Support the ramp up to production of Octane fuel in PAR 46C

·         Collaborate on future projects including fuel water separator improvements, complexity reduction, optimized fuel line design and connections, and Quality and Manufacturing improvements

·         Responsible for meeting design deliverables for assigned projects with quality. Present status updates in TSMs or other forums when needed.

·         Design and validate safe, reliable, serviceable, and competitive designs

·         Collaborate well with partners: Design, DTMX, Manufacturing, After-Market, Purchasing, EPM, PVE, Product Strategy

·         Work with suppliers to develop and validate components to DTNA specifications

·         Provide quality and timely solutions to production problems and field issues

·         Participate in implementation of cross-functional ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, and processes as well as product cost and quality

 

Knowledge You Should Bring

·         Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree, is required

·         Demonstrated CAD experience for part/tubing/bracket design, drawings, and layout work

·         Experience with Engineering tools: Engineering Client, IMACS+, ERS+

·         Documentation experience: part release, charting, etc.

·         An attached resume is required

 

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

·         Familiarity with CVDS deliverables and milestones

·         Experience designing hoses or tubes, bent brackets, stamped parts or small castings

·         Ability to work on multiple tasks at hand

·         Strong written, verbal, or presentation skills

·         Able to motivate self and collaborate well with others
