About the role
The Unit Nurse Supervisor provides clinical leadership and supervisory support for all three nursing units at Helen Porter – Memory Care, Long Term Care and Post-Acute Care.
Hours are 11am - 11pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This position is eligible for full benefits.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
- Provide supervision of the nursing staff.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork through staff coaching and mentoring.
- Monitor staffing levels and make adjustments as appropriate or clinically indicated.
- Conduct safety rounds and audits on all three nursing units
- Chart reviews
- Assist with clinical assessments and interventions as needed.
- Serve as a point person with any significant change in condition that results in death or transfer to an acute care facility.
- Communicate important information to next shift charge nurse.
- Communicate facility issues, concerns or grievances to the appropriate contact person.
- Initiate investigation of resident or family member grievances.
- Interpret, support, and enforce facility policies and procedures.
- Participate and support quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN or LPN license in good standing, recognized by The State of Vermont State Board of Nursing.
Experience
- RN with one or more years of experience in post-acute or long term care, or LPN with three or more years of experience.
- One year of supervisory experience with demonstrated clinical skills and decision-making capabilities.
