Job Description

Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike—with a vision to help all businesses ‘go beyond’.

The word ‘Pleo’ actually means ‘more than you’d expect’, and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years.

Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Internal Experience Platform (IX) and own the Backoffice Platform as a product.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the internal backoffice foundations that power permissions, workflows, auditability, and decision-making across Pleo.

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Risk, Support, and Compliance to ensure internal capabilities are safe by default, reusable across teams, and scalable as Pleo grows in volume and complexity.

If you’re excited about owning a high-leverage internal platform, enjoy solving ambiguous problems at the intersection of Product, Operations, and Risk, and care deeply about building foundations that others rely on - this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Product Manager - Backoffice Platform, you will:

  • Own the product vision and strategy for the Backoffice Platform
  • Define and evolve shared internal capabilities such as:
  • Role-based permissions and access control
  • Case workflows and decision logging
  • Audit trails and evidence generation
  • Prioritise platform work based on reuse, risk reduction, and operational impact
  • Partner closely with Engineering to design scalable, extensible solutions
  • Work with Risk, Support, and Compliance to ensure platform decisions meet regulatory and operational needs
  • Drive adoption of shared backoffice primitives across product teams
  • Balance platform standardisation with the needs of individual teams

To put things into context, current and upcoming areas of focus include:

  • Standardising permissions and access patterns across Backoffice
  • Establishing audit-ready workflows and decision logging by default
  • Reducing bespoke internal tooling through shared platform primitives

What you bring

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Strong product management experience owning complex product surfaces
  • Experience working on platforms, internal tools, or infrastructure-adjacent products
  • A track record of defining product strategy and translating it into outcomes
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high-dependency environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to make and defend trade-offs across speed, safety, and scalability

Nice to have:

  • Experience in regulated or operationally complex domains
  • Exposure to permissions models, auditability, or workflow systems
  • Background in fintech, SaaS, or B2B product organisations

Why is this role a good fit for you

This role is a good fit for you if:

  • You enjoy owning foundational products with company-wide impact
  • You like solving systemic problems rather than s
