What you will do:
Johnson Controls is hiring a Director of Government Relations, to provide dynamic and effective leadership of the company’s public policy and advocacy efforts throughout India. Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Sustainability and External Relations Officer, and Managing Director, and part of a collaborative, diverse, global team, this person will assist in the development and execution of policy campaigns, projects, and initiatives critical to the company’s success on issues including energy, environment, government contracting, government subsidies and technology development
How you will do it:
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, leveraging deep understanding of Johnson Controls’ businesses to anticipate policy risks, influence regulatory direction, and advance company interests
- Own the end-to-end design and execution of government affairs strategies, translating business priorities into clear policy positions, targeted advocacy campaigns, and measurable outcomes.
- Shape and protect Johnson Controls’ policy and regulatory agenda by building and sustaining high-impact relationships with central, provincial, and municipal government leaders and regulatory authorities.
- Proactively identify, assess, and capitalize on legislative and regulatory opportunities that drive growth, competitiveness, and long-term value for the organization.
- Expand the company’s influence ecosystem by forging strong alliances with both traditional partners and non
obvious stakeholders to accelerate impact on priority issues.
- Lead and optimize external representation, including business associations, trade bodies, and industry forums, to ensure consistent, credible, and effective advocacy for Johnson Controls
- Ensure governance, integrity, and compliance across all political engagement and advocacy activities, meeting regulatory, disclosure, and ethical standards without exception.
What we look for:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public policy, Political Science, Law, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
- Successful track record of policy development and advocacy at a corporation or trade association
- Ability to manage numerous and varied priority issues at the same time
- A self-starter who is energized by the challenge and opportunity to be an originator, creator, and driver of impactful legislative and regulatory policies
- Building code proposals and adoptions experience a plus
- Significant experience presenting and interacting with C-suite and Board level leaders
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent the company with external constituents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interacting with senior company management
- Strong knowledge navigating connections with government and regulatory processes
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
