Job responsibilities:
This position will provide analytic support for developing, tuning and optimizing the bank’s name screening, sanction transaction filtering and AML transaction monitoring systems to effectively detect potential financial crime. This include creating or modifying system rules, parameters, and settings to meet the bank’s requirements.
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Regional Lead to ensure a globally and regionally consistent effort that enables continuing improvement for tuning and optimization capabilities.
In coordination with the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD), this position will:
Support the development of relevant policies and procedures, including but not limited to conducting coverage reviews and risk assessments.
Support a strategic optimization and segmentation initiative to enhance MUFG’s financial crime monitoring systems. .
Assist in development of models involving tuning, calibration, segmentation, and optimization.
Work collaboratively with Financial Crimes staff in MUFG’s APAC branches as well as across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
Job requirements:
Expertise in data analytics and statistical analysis applied to financial crime and compliance use cases, with hands-on experience leveraging a programing language (Python/SQL/R) or a analytics platform (Tableau/Power BI/Alteryx) for quantitative testing, statistical analysis, and performance presentation
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, analyzing and testing data analytics models. Involvement with AML and sanctions modelling processes including scenario analytics, threshold analysis, what‑if testing, and ATL/BTL sampling methodologies to support tuning and optimization of compliance programs would be advantageous.
Hands-on experience building end‑to‑end data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, quality checks, and analytics layer development, with strong familiarity working with enterprise data warehouses and large transactional datasets to support scalable analytics and reporting.
Working knowledge of financial crime and compliance concepts across Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Filtering, Customer Screening, and KYC.
Familiarity with vendor platforms such as Actimize SAM/WLF, SearchSpace, or CGI Hotscan, and knowledge of SWIFT payment standards is a plus.
Additional skills
Ability to distill complex statistical concepts and analysis outcomes concisely for a non-technical audience.
Process‑oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset and strong intuition for identifying opportunities to enhance and optimize work processes.
Strong presentation and communication skills, with the proven ability to prepare high‑quality analytical reports and translate insights into clear, well‑structured and engaging visual presentations for senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented; ability to work autonomously to initiate and prioritize own work.
Integrates an enterprise‑wide risk management perspective in the delivery of work and decision‑making.
