Job Title: Business Management Senior Analyst

Corporate Title: Associate

Location: Mumbai, India

Role Description:

The role will sit in the wider APAC Business Management & Controls (BM&C) team and entails elements of both Business Management (BM) as well as Business Control (BCU) activities.

The IBCM Business Management / COO function is an enablement and governance function that supports IBCM senior management in the day‑to‑day management of the business. It includes strategy execution, financial and resource management, governance coordination, and delivery of key business initiatives.

The IBCM Business Control Unit (BCU) is a 1st Line of Defense (1st LoD) function created during the implementation of the Three Line of Defense (3LoD) program. Its primary objective is to support the front office in executing the Operational Risk (OR) framework for its business line incl. identification and mitigation of operational risks, supporting the operation of an efficient supervisory and conduct framework, governance of the business’ audit portfolio, driving “Change the Bank” initiatives to support the control framework.

 Your key responsibilities

  • APAC Equity Distribution: ongoing business management, operating and enhancing level 1 controls, and providing governance support (including dedicated governance forum, provide MI, etc.)
  • Supporting IBCM strategy and productivity initiatives, such as, for example, the ECM APAC and APAC Equity Distribution capability build out
  • Supporting change initiatives in IBCM incl. coordinating with various teams, tracking progress, and escalating where necessary
  • Financial resource management:
    • FV & X-Collaborate Booking: owning the booking process of Franchise Value (FV) / Revenue Credits (RCs) for APAC IBCM bankers for all products incl. coordination and follow-up with product business managers within and outside of IBCM
    • 1st point of contact for FV related queries (e.g. missing FVs, P&L alignment, timing, etc.)
    • Providing FV Analysis (e.g. analysis on banker FV, financing FV, team FV, etc)
    • Participating in the monthly pipeline meeting with country heads / sector heads
    • Managing timely updates of booked FV & system pipeline through various channels (depending on products / deal status)
  • Call Stat Review & Data clean-up:
    • Understanding current call stat capture and roll-up mechanics
    • Supporting coverage bankers to confirm that call stats are accurately entered in the system (e.g. correct client hierarchy, addressing missing call reports)
  • Timely identification and sustainable mitigation of control weaknesses and emerging risks
  • Delivering risk and control related assignments, such as a read-across of known control weaknesses, back-testing
  • Developing and managing relationships with a range of stakeholders within and outside IBCM including 1st, 2nd and 3rd line functions

Your skills and experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience, ideally from a top-tier investment bank
  • Strong analytical skills and a strong finance / economic academic background
  • Sound understanding of the Corporate Finance business, including advisory and capital markets transactions. Experience in Equity Capital Markets and/or Cash Equity Trading would be beneficial.
  • Business and project management experience within an investment bank
  • Working knowledge of the operational risks and controls in an investment bank
  • Aptitude for providing advice to senior management on risks, controls and mitigation
  • The ability to formulate clearly and present information in a compelling manner
  • The ability to present complex and sensitive messages comprehensively, professionally and in simple terms
  • Solid MS Office skills (word, PowerPoint, excel)
  • Strong data-analysis skills – ability to transform raw/complex data into simple and meaningful outputs for senior management communication
