Summary:
The Prep cook shall prepare, set-up, pan all food and serve for each meal. They shall also perform cleaning assignments, and other kitchen and dish room duties.

Responsibilities
Organizes, sets-up and prepares foods for use in breakfast, lunch, dinner, alternative menus, special event and catering foods, cafeteria foods and dietary restricted foods following standardized recipes and production sheets or as directed.
Provides full or partial meal service in dining room or serving line style in a professional, courteous manner contributing positively to the resident and customer dining experience.
Responds to special requests or requests for additional items in a timely fashion.
Prepares appropriate quantity of food adhering to standardized production menus when appropriate. Prepares alternate food items and/or additional quantities when requested by resident or customer in a timely fashion.
Performs daily cleaning assignments to help maintains proper sanitation in the Kitchen and Food Service area keeping areas clean and organized.
Utilizes and maintains equipment according to safety and standard operating instructions.
Follows infection control procedures, including proper hand washing, food preparation, food storage, food disposal and wearing protective clothing and equipment.
Follows all safety procedures and protocol as dictated by EverTrue policy, federal and state regulations and standard food handling practices and corrects and/or reports all hazardous conditions, defective equipment and accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Prefer at least one year of institutional, cooking, prep-cooking, or kitchen area work.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to follow oral/written instructions.
- Must be able to read, write and make simple calculations.
- Must possess leadership abilities such as planning, organizing, interpretation and good personal relations skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary functions in a health care facility.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment and appearance of work areas.
- Must have or be willing to receive a hepatitis A vaccine prior to beginning work.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to push/pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 150 pounds on wheels. Employee regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to or feel objects, tools, or controls, have clarity of speech, speech recognition, written expression, and requires sensory abilities.

Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile residents within the facility.
Employee will work in a lighted and ventilated working area that has its own temperature control system (air conditioning and heat).

Subject to falls, burns, odors, etc., throughout the work day.
Subject to sudden temperature changes.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed.

EverTrue Pay & Benefits
Pay grade: 07, $15.00/hour to $22.00/hour.
