Job Description

About the Role 

As a Solar & Energy Storage Estimator on our Development team, you’ll prepare detailed cost estimates and support the technical and financial evaluation of solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, including augmentation strategies. Working closely with engineering, development, and procurement teams, you’ll contribute to project optimization and help Madison bring competitive, well-structured bids to market. This role offers direct impact on project execution and meaningful exposure across the full project lifecycle. 

What You’ll Own 

  • Cost Estimation – Develop detailed cost estimates for solar PV and BESS projects; maintain cost databases and estimating tools to support accuracy and consistency
  • Technical Analysis – Analyze project drawings, specifications, and proposals; interpret engineering documents to identify scope and cost drivers
  • BESS Optimization – Support BESS optimization work including augmentation strategy development and lifecycle cost analysis
  • Bid & Procurement Management – Manage and conduct EPC bid processes using Procore; solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing; assist in bid preparation and RFP responses
  • Value Engineering – Identify value engineering opportunities and track market pricing trends to inform competitive positioning
  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with engineering, development, and procurement teams to support project development and execution 

What Will Help You Succeed 

You don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive. 

  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in solar, energy storage, or related infrastructure estimating; BESS estimating experience, including familiarity with augmentation strategies and lifecycle cost analysis (preferred)
  • Background in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong Excel skills and analytical ability
  • Strong communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across engineering, development, and procurement functions
  • Experience using Procore for EPC bids and familiarity with Bluebeam for estimating (preferred)
  • Exposure to ISO markets or dispatch modeling (preferred)
  • Familiarity with PVsyst or similar solar modeling tools (preferred)
  • Knowledge of EPC structures and C&I solar + storage markets (preferred)

$100,000 - $150,000 a year
The actual salary offered may vary depending on job-related factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience and location.
