Great American’s Corporate Actuarial Division is integral to managing financial risks and ensuring the company’s long-term financial stability. This shared service comprises two specialized teams: Pricing and Reserving.

  • Pricing Team: This team is tasked with projecting future loss activity and assessing whether prospective rate levels will adequately cover all costs associated with risk transfer.

  • Reserving Team: This team is responsible for establishing Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves and estimating the outstanding losses for past exposure periods.

Together, these teams ensure that Great American maintains robust financial health and compliance with industry standards.

The Corporate Actuarial Division is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join their team. Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to provide strong quantitative support for financial forecasts, rating, reserving, rating regulatory filings and ad hoc requests.

  • Coordinates actuarial research, performs systems updates, and develops new reports and output files.

  • Analyzes and reviews reserves for existing products or business units. Assembles materials for and conducts quarterly meetings with business unit management.

  • Provides input to accounting for recording loss and expense reserves in financial statements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science or a related discipline.

  • Generally, 0-2 years of actuarial experience.

  • Has passed 1 or more exams toward Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).

  • Strong skills in Excel.
