Senior FPGA Mixed Signal Engineer
About the Role
As Senior FPGA Mixed Signal Engineer, you will support the design and development of FPGA-based solutions for mixed-signal systems and evaluation platforms at ADI, with a focus on platforms based on Xilinx Zynq devices. This role combines hands-on FPGA development with board-level collaboration across analog, digital, and software teams to deliver reliable hardware solutions for product development and validation. You will work with limited direction on complex assignments, applying sound engineering judgment to FPGA implementation, system integration, debug, and lab bring-up. This role is well suited for an engineer with practical experience in FPGA design, mixed-signal hardware development, including FPGA AFE board support.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and debug FPGA-based functionality for mixed-signal systems using RTL development, simulation, and hardware validation.
Support development activities on Xilinx Zynq-based platforms, including logic integration, interface definition, and hardware/software interaction at the board level.
Work with analog and digital teams to integrate FPGA functionality into mixed-signal platforms and support system-level performance objectives.
Contribute to the design and bring-up of FPGA AFE boards, including schematic review, component and interface definition, and support for layout and board-level debug.
Develop and execute verification activities for FPGA designs, including simulation, hardware testing, and lab characterization.
Investigate and resolve design and integration issues across FPGA logic, interfaces, and board-level mixed-signal behavior.
Partner with design, verification, software, and applications teams to support product development and evaluation activities.
Must Have Skills
FPGA Development: Strong experience developing FPGA designs with the ability to implement, test, and debug digital logic for mixed-signal systems.
Xilinx Zynq Devices: Practical experience working with Xilinx Zynq-based platforms, including FPGA implementation and board-level integration.
RTL Design: Proficiency in Verilog or SystemVerilog for clear, maintainable, and effective FPGA implementation.
Mixed-Signal Hardware Understanding: Practical understanding of mixed-signal systems, including digital and analog interaction, synchronization, and signal integrity considerations.
PCB and Board-Level Development: Experience contributing to FPGA-based board development, including schematic review, interface definition, and hardware bring-up.
Verification and Debug: Experience with simulation, waveform analysis, and lab debugging to validate functionality and resolve design issues.
Development Tools: Experience with standard FPGA design and debug tools used for synthesis, simulation, implementation, and hardware validation.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of relevant experience in FPGA, digital design, or mixed-signal hardware development.
Experience with Xilinx Zynq platforms, FPGA AFE boards, or evaluation hardware development.
Familiarity with common digital interfaces and board-level integration challenges.
Experience working in lab environments with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related debug equipment.
We recognize that candidates may not meet every listed requirement. If you bring relevant experience and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.
