This position reports to:
Digital Solution Engineering Manager__
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. You will act as the design authority for an engineering discipline, leading work of medium complexity across multiple projects. You will deliver engineering assignments for moderate‑sized projects or key portions of major projects in a cost‑effective and efficient manner, ensuring all outcomes meet contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and ABB’s cybersecurity policies.
Work model: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid
- Lead electrical protection systems design, including protection relay configuration, testing, and documentation review to meet safety, quality, and cybersecurity standards.
- Design and implement ABB Zenon SCADA solutions, including HMI development, communication interfaces, and system integration with protection and control equipment.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning teams to ensure designs are produced, installed, and commissioned accurately and updated post‑deployment.
- Work directly with customers on technical issues, applying engineering best practices, and coach colleagues in translating conceptual designs into high‑quality engineering documentation.

Qualifications for the role
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- 5+ years’ experience in protection systems engineering, SCADA integration, or related project engineering roles
- Strong expertise in configuring, testing, and commissioning protection relays (ABB and other major OEMs), secondary injection test sets (e.g., OMICRON, Doble), and SLD/protection schematics interpretation
- Knowledge of SCADA system integration with IEDs, PLCs, RTUs, and gateways, including Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, and IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, SCL file handling)
- Skilled in engineering tools such as PCM600, IEDScout, protocol simulators, and other OEM relay configuration platforms
- Ability to collaborate across functions, communicate clearly with customers, and provide technical leadership within project teams
- Mindset to innovate, take ownership, solve complex issues, and drive continuous improvement
