As a Personal Support Worker (PSW) you will be an integral part of the home and community care team. You will support, encourage and provide independence for patients in their homes and community settings by assisting with activities of daily living 

About the Role:

The Book Off team will be a regularly scheduled group of PSW who will be deployed to cover patients left without a care provider due to Book Off’s and illnesses.  The role will not provide regular scheduled vacation coverage.  Employees will be required to drive in the Hamilton - Niagara - Haldimand - Brant area.

Process:

Book Off employees will not be assigned a regular patient caseload schedule.  Book Off employees will receive their schedule as soon as the Book Off coordinator is aware of a book off.  This could be as early as the evening before or the day of in the morning (by 7am, earlier if possible). The process will be they simply inherit the schedule of the employee that booked Off.  Any assigned\trained\delegated tasks may need to be assigned to an already trained employee. If PSW's complete the book offs prior to end of shift they will be assigned additional work.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a car and be okay with travelling all over Niagara and rural areas

  • Must be PSW certified (and have experience)

  • Must be able to work available schedule

  • Cannot have any limitations in terms of clients they can see

  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to stand up for themselves
