About the role

We’re looking for a 12‑month UX Research Intern to partner on a variety of research projects, with a strong emphasis on international user research. In this role, you will be mentored by a senior UX researcher and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to shape product decisions with mixed‑methods insights (qualitative and quantitative).

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Plan and execute mixed‑methods studies (interviews, usability tests, diary studies, concept tests, and surveys) across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Support international research operations: participant recruiting, localization, incentives, and vendor coordination.
  • Design, program, and analyze surveys (e.g., screening, satisfaction, feature adoption) using best practices in sampling and question design.
  • Conduct moderated and unmoderated qualitative research; synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with data science on triangulating behavioral data with attitudinal research to tell a cohesive story.
  • Synthesize and communicate insights through reports, debriefs, and concise readouts tailored to diverse stakeholders.

 

We are excited if you have

  • Currently enrolled in a full‑time, degree‑seeking program and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HCI, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Design, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in international/cross‑cultural research.
  • Familiarity with mixed‑methods research and comfort moving between qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  • Experience designing and analyzing surveys (e.g., in Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or similar).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to tailor insights to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with remote supervision and distributed teams.
  • Endless empathy for the user.
  • Bonus: experience with statistics for survey analysis (e.g., significance testing, segmentation), usability benchmarking, or multilingual research.

 

Our Hybrid Work Approach

Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams work in the office Monday through Thursday.
