What You’ll Do:

  • Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and optimizing the flow of work through a machine shop to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources.
  • Develops and maintains production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, machine capacity, and labor constraints.
  • Work closely with operations, purchasing, engineering, and shop floor personnel, the scheduler prioritizes jobs, adjusts plans as conditions change, and helps resolve bottlenecks to keep production running smoothly
  • Creating weekly and monthly schedules, monitoring progress against deadlines, expediting critical orders, and updating stakeholders on status and risks. Complete transactional entries of goods movement throughout the shop as well as other Western facilities.
  • Key contributor in the Inventory Management process through the maintaining of accurate goods movement entries and reconciliation.
  • Analyzes production data to improve throughput, reduce lead times, and balance workloads across machines and shifts.

What you bring to the table:

  • College degree or equivalent 5 years work experience, preferably in business or applicable field.
  • Manufacturing experience, Scheduling/Planning experience, Inventory or Materials experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Understanding of the machining processes and capacity planning
  • Can communicate effectively across departments to drive performance and meet customer commitments.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and proficiency with ERP/MRP systems are essential for success in this role.
  • Knowledge of Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, MAPICS, Microsoft Office (Excel is used 90 percent of time), ERP systems (i.e. Microsoft D365, INFOR, SAP, Oracle) Skills/Ability to: Work independently, problem solving, scheduling conflicts.

  • Physical demands: Sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time. Frequent trips to the manufacturing floor will include interaction with machines, raw material, and oils. Participation in the annual physical inventory process. Applicable PPE (Safety shoes and safety glasses).
