Position Overview
JLL's Project & Development Services (PDS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Project Lead to support the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure projects across our diverse client portfolio. This role serves as a key leadership position within project teams, assisting the Project Lead in planning, executing, and delivering projects that meet client objectives for quality, cost, schedule, and safety. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, client management skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Execution
Support the Project Lead in overall project delivery from inception through closeout, ensuring alignment with client requirements, JLL standards, and contractual obligations. Oversee day-to-day project operations including design coordination, procurement activities, construction supervision, quality control, and commissioning phases. Manage specific work packages or project phases independently, including site development, MEP systems, interior fit-outs, or specialty installations based on project requirements. Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets, implementing corrective actions to address deviations and maintain project trajectory. Lead project coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, vendors, and client representatives to resolve technical issues and maintain project momentum.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead and mentor project team members including engineers, coordinators, inspectors, and support staff to deliver high-quality outcomes. Coordinate with JLL functional teams including planning, cost management, contract administration, health & safety, and quality assurance. Foster collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery and effective problem-solving. Provide technical guidance and direction to consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with design intent and specifications. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members, supporting their professional development and career growth.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring their requirements and expectations are clearly understood and met. Prepare and deliver regular project status reports, presentations, and briefings to clients and senior JLL leadership. Anticipate client needs proactively, addressing concerns promptly and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction throughout project lifecycle. Facilitate communication between clients, design teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project approvals and execution. Represent JLL professionally in client meetings, site inspections, and project milestone events.
Technical Management & Quality Assurance
Review and approve design deliverables, specifications, drawings, and submittals for compliance with project requirements and technical standards. Conduct design coordination reviews to identify and resolve conflicts, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities. Oversee quality control processes including inspections, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure work meets specified standards. Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and sustainability criteria applicable to the project. Validate contractor methodology, work sequences, and resource deployment plans for technical feasibility and alignment with project objectives.
Commercial & Contract Management
Support the Project Lead in managing project budgets, tracking costs, reviewing invoices, and authorizing payments within delegated authority. Monitor contractor performance against contractual terms, managing variations, claims, and commercial disputes in coordination with contracts team. Review and process change orders, assessing cost and schedule impacts before approval and implementation. Ensure proper documentation of project records, correspondence, instructions, and decisions for contractual compliance and audit purposes. Support commercial negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
Risk & Issue Management
Identify project risks related to design, procurement, construction, safety, and schedule, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Monitor risk registers and implement proactive measures to prevent issues from impacting project delivery. Lead resolution of technical challenges, construction problems, and coordination conflicts through systematic problem-solving approaches. Escalate critical issues to Project Lead or senior management with recommended solutions and supporting analysis. Maintain lessons learned documentation to capture insights and improve future project delivery.
Health, Safety & Sustainability
Champion health and safety culture on project sites, ensuring compliance with JLL safety standards and local regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections, participate in safety meetings, and ensure contractors maintain safe working environments. Support implementation of sustainability initiatives including LEED, IGBC, GRIHA, or other green building certifications as required. Promote sustainable construction practices, waste reduction, and resource efficiency throughout project execution.
Required Qualifications
Education & Professional Background
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical discipline. Master's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or MBA is advantageous. Minimum 8-12 years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least 3-5 years in leadership roles managing teams and interfacing with senior stakeholders. Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects across various sectors including commercial office, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, data centers, or residential developments. Prior experience working with reputed project management consultancy firms, engineering consultants, or major contractors is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building systems (structural, architectural, MEP), and project delivery approaches including design-build, design-bid-build, and EPC models. Understanding of building codes (NBC), fire safety regulations, accessibility standards, and environmental compliance requirements in India. Proficiency in project management software including MS Project, Primavera P6, and document management systems (Aconex, Procore, SharePoint). Working knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks), and ability to review technical drawings and coordinate 3D models. Familiarity with cost estimation, quantity surveying principles, and earned value management concepts.

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or similar professional designations. Health & Safety certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) demonstrating commitment to safety leadership.

Work Environment & Conditions
This role requires a combination of office-based work and regular site presence depending on project phases and client requirements. Extensive site visits are necessary during construction phases, requiring physical presence in active construction environments with appropriate PPE. Position may involve working across multiple project sites simultaneously, requiring strong time management and prioritization abilities. Standard business hours with flexibility for early morning or evening meetings, site inspections, and client requirements. Occasional travel to other cities for multi-location projects, client meetings, or JLL events. Ability to work in challenging site conditions including partially constructed buildings, outdoor environments, and operational facilities.
