Job Description

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

Join us as a Senior Data Engineer with Snowflake - Market Data Platform at Barclays, where you'll enable and accelerate the Markets data strategy by building and scaling a new market data platform with real business impact, leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, and AWS to deliver governed, high‑quality data at enterprise scale.

To be successful as a Senior Data Engineer with Snowflake - Market Data Platform, you should have:

  • Extensive experience with Snowflake, including data sharing, secure views, and multi-tenant platform design in an enterprise environment
  • Considerable skills in Snowflake database architecture, compute management, and entitlements design to support governed data distribution at scale
  • Experience in sourcing, onboarding, and cataloguing data from third-party vendors (e.g. licensed market data) for controlled internal redistribution
  • Solid working knowledge of AWS cloud services (S3, IAM, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, CloudFormation) and Apache Iceberg table format for open, interoperable data lakehouse patterns

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Demonstrable experience with Databricks 
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating and scheduling complex data workflows
  • Familiarity with machine-readable metadata standards and how they can be leveraged for automated data cataloguing and classification
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with diverse internal teams across technology, business, and vendor management functions

Entry Salary: Kč 1,884,000.00

Upper Salary: Kč 2,496,000.00

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
