This is a temporary summer position within the Operating Engineers union with an expected duration of 6-8 weeks.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist with sampling, testing, and monitoring asphalt and aggregate materials across plants, labs, and job sites to support quality standards
- Record, organize, and communicate test results and observations to support production and quality control decisions
- Support equipment checks, calibrations, and basic maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable testing
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory, equipment, and sampling areas
- Collaborate with team members and follow all safety, quality, and site procedures while supporting additional assigned tasks
What Are We Looking For
- Interest in asphalt production, aggregates, materials testing, or quality control, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record information and follow established procedures
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with clear and professional communication skills
- Comfortable performing physical tasks and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Flexible and dependable, with the ability to adapt to varying schedules; a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are considered assets
Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre employment physical examination and background check.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Verification of age will be required as a condition of employment.
Work Environment
- This role involves laboratory, plant, and field work, including exposure to operating equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dust, heat, and varying weather conditions, and requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting
- Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety training will be provided.
