About this opportunity:

Reporting into the Senior Manager, Pipeline Integrity the Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer will understand and effectively manage pipeline risks and threats, in alignment with the Pipeline Integrity Management program and Regulatory expectations. The role will lead pipeline incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop program enhancements to address root causes. This role will also ensure compliance to pipeline program through periodic reviews or audits.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to identify and manage risks and threats to pipelines and pipeline systems, including inspecting planning and execution, risk mitigation strategies, and repairs and alteration recommendations.

  • Lead and/or participate in risk assessments, engineering assessments, failure investigations, internal/external audits, and failure analysis.

  • Conduct Integrity assessment assurance activities such as fitness for service assessments, mechanical integrity assessments, and Remaining Life Studies.

  • Develop and manage fit for purpose risk-based pipeline integrity strategies that are aligned with the Pipeline Integrity Management program.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement program improvement projects related to integrity enhancement opportunities.

  • Provide technical support to Major Projects for design basis recommendations related to full life cycle asset management, including risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Support the development and sustainment of pipeline integrity programs, processes, and procedures, ensuring that risks and threats are being properly managed and are meeting Regulatory requirements.

  • Provide technical support for application and updates to technical specifications, standards, and procedures.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Registered P.Eng with APEGA or APEGS, with a degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering or a technical diploma in mechanical, materials, petroleum, or chemical, from an accredited technical school and recognized by ASET for CET or P. Tech certification.

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in pipeline and facility integrity management.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of:

    • Applicable Alberta and Saskatchewan Pipeline Rules and Regulations

    • CSA Z662-23

    • Corrosion mitigation strategies

    • Non-destructive examination techniques

  • NACE Corrosion Certification and / or API 510 would be considered an asset.
