About the role
The Commodities Data Analytics Lead is a senior-level position crucial for the Commodities Data Analytics Platform (DEAP). This role is responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs, providing dedicated leadership and ownership over the platform's ongoing development, maintenance, and strategic alignment in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective is to ensure the timely delivery of projects, foster a culture of accountability, and safeguard the platform's strategic value, addressing current operational vulnerabilities and preventing significant business disruption within the DEAP platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the timely delivery of ongoing projects and enhancement requirements, as well as resolving production issues for the DEAP platform. This includes guiding the team, allocating resources effectively, and fostering a culture of accountability.
- Oversee and actively participate in the implementation of high-quality, accurate, and impactful business-critical reports within Tableau, the primary vendor BI tool used across the analytics platform.
- Interface with various upstream and downstream systems and manage expectations of diverse business functions which are primary users of the DEAP platform.
- Take ownership of the entire Book of Work (BoW) for various workstreams within the DEAP platform, covering diverse user requirements from Structuring, Credit, Sales, Logistics, Finance, and Front Office. This involves prioritizing tasks, managing development lifecycles, and ensuring efficient execution.
- Proactively identify and manage critical dependencies with upstream platforms, such as the GXS platform, and other data sources feeding into the analytics platform, ensuring seamless integration and preventing data discrepancies.
- Work closely with business users to deeply understand their requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and subsequently implement robust and intuitive reports in Tableau, maintaining adherence to best Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
- Champion and enforce best practices within the Software Development Lifecycle across all DEAP projects, including rigorous planning, design, coding standards, testing protocols, and deployment strategies to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure solutions.
- Provide leadership in cross-functional collaborations, ensuring effective communication and alignment between technical teams, business stakeholders, and other platform owners.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
Recommended Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Applications Development, Data Analytics, or a systems analysis role, preferably within commodities or financial services.
- Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications, with a strong focus on data analytics platforms and business intelligence tools like Tableau.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing successful projects, especially within a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) framework.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development, Data Analytics, or Commodities trading/finance.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication, with strong stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Finance).
- Master's degree preferred.
