Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the HR & Payroll Specialist, Australia (6-month contract; part-time), you will be responsible for the smooth facilitation of changes associated with the introduction of Pay Day Super for RBC Australia’s Capital Markets, Technology, Operations and Functions businesses in Australia.  This includes the delivery of operational and administrative HR Services in Australia. 

What will you do?

  • Responsible for supporting the smooth implementation of Pay Day Super working with the outsourced vendor for the delivery of the changes for all permanent, fixed term and casual employees.
  • Updating payroll system data including entry of new starters, processing of terminations, changes to employee details, and position details, ensuring the integrity and maintenance of the system data and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Managing the accurate record keeping of pay records, banking details, overtime, Tax File Number Declarations, timesheets, leave records and other related information.
  • Managing the monthly & year end preparation, balancing & reconciliation of: payroll tax, PAYG tax, superannuation contribution, workers compensation returns/premiums and authorised payroll deductions etc.
  • Management of employee timesheet reconciliation in line with BIFA as needed.
  • Calculating all exit payments, long service leave balances, leave adjustments, back payments and adjustments as required.
  • Monitoring and adhering to changes to payroll statutory requirements and communicating and taking action accordingly.
  • Managing and processing of employee benefits including salary sacrificing and various insurances in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Relationship management with payroll system vendor.
  • Responding to HR and payroll related queries, providing professional and proactive customer service and communication to employees and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with RBC internal control requirements, regulatory requirements & RBC policies in the delivery of HR services including background screening, entitlement to work, employee onboarding, compliance checks and global system updates.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Experienced payroll professional (minimum 5 years), strong understanding of Australian legal framework and working practices.
  • Knowledge and expertise with superannuation processing, payroll, PAYG and superannuation legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using Micropay.
  • Time Management: ability to organise and prioritise work activities to efficiently accomplish tasks and meet objectives.
  • Advanced level of expertise in using Workday, Microsoft packages, Outlook, Power point etc

  • HR or relevant qualification
