Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Director, Strategic Collaboration, located in Zuchwil, Solothurn. 

Job Overview 

The Sr. Director, Strategic Collaboration – Quality & Compliance (Strategy & Deployment) provides senior leadership for cross‑functional collaboration and deployment of enterprise‑wide quality and compliance strategies. This role is accountable for enabling alignment across global stakeholders, accelerating execution of strategic initiatives, and strengthening consistency in quality and compliance practices. The position has a broad enterprise impact by driving collaboration across Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Commercial, and Supply Chain functions to support regulatory readiness, operational excellence, and sustainable business performance. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead strategic collaboration initiatives across Quality & Compliance to ensure alignment and effective execution of enterprise priorities. 

  • Translate quality and compliance strategy into deployable programs, governance models, and execution frameworks. 

  • Partner with senior leaders across Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Commercial, and Supply Chain to drive cross‑functional alignment. 

  • Establish and oversee deployment plans, milestones, and performance metrics for strategic initiatives. 

  • Identify execution risks, interdependencies, and gaps and drive mitigation actions. 

  • Support audit and inspection readiness by ensuring strategic initiatives align with regulatory and quality system expectations. 

  • Drive continuous improvement in collaboration models, deployment effectiveness, and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders and teams involved in strategy deployment and collaboration. 

 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Business, or a related discipline (required). 

  • Master’s degree or MBA (preferred). 

Experience and Skills: 

Required: 

  • Typically 12-14 years of progressive experience in Quality, Compliance, Regulatory, or related roles within a regulated industry. 

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience driving enterprise‑level strategy and cross‑functional initiatives. 

  • Strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory requirements in global organizations. 

  • Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across complex, matrixed environments. 

  • Experience leading large‑scale deployment or transformation initiatives. 

  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and change‑management skills. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries. 

  • Experience working in global or multi‑regional organizations. 

  • Exposure to audit, inspection, or regulatory interaction at the enterprise level. 

  • Demonstrated success driving collaboration and execution across diverse stakeholder groups. 

  • Quality or Regulatory certifications (e.g., ASQ, RAC). 

Other: 

  • Language: English required; additional European languages preferred. 

  • Travel: Moderate international travel. 

  • Certifications: Quality or Regulatory certifications preferred but not required.
