Position Summary
This role turns medical pharmacy performance data into strategic insights and decision-ready recommendations for the Aetna Pharmacy team across all lines of business. You’ll evaluate in-flight initiatives, monitor operational and experience trends, and partner with clinical and pharmacy network stakeholders to pinpoint the highest-impact drivers, clarify tradeoffs, and set a focused path of action.
Responsibilities include:
Performance narrative: Review medical pharmacy performance across multiple initiatives to provide direction on how to balance intersection, including suggested next steps and responsibility by stakeholder
Performance evaluation: Assess performance of in-flight medical pharmacy (MedRx) initiatives owned by Aetna Pharmacy; identify what’s working, what’s not, and what to change by line of business
Reporting & monitoring: Build and maintain reporting/analytics to track initiative success, operational performance, and experience trends
Drivers & affordability opportunities: Conduct detailed analysis of cost, utilization, and operational levers at the drug and provider level and quantify opportunities to improve affordability with a focus on turning adhoc requests into repeatable monitoring
Risk/opportunity sizing: Use internal and external data sources to quantify risk, upside, and tradeoffs; communicate implications clearly
Operating cadence: Stand up a recurring cadence to review initiative value, progress, and decisions with cross-functional workgroups and senior leaders
Cross-functional partnership: Build strong working relationships with Rx Network, Medical Network, and Rx clinical teams across Aetna LOBs to increase transparency and accelerate decisions
Strategic insights: Provide LOB-informed insights on plan design, formulary design, member engagement, and related strategic initiatives
Executive communication: Deliver succinct, decision-oriented updates for senior leaders, including valuation summaries and key callouts
Required Qualifications
7+ years of healthcare data analytics and reporting experience.
3-5+ years of SQL query and coding experience
Medical Pharmacy knowledge
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate analysis into clear recommendation
Ability to think creatively and use multiple data sources to assess and develop business strategies
Ability to manage multiple priorities across stakeholders and timelines
Ability to collaborate with experts from other teams to better understand issues/drivers and how/why the impact may differ by line of business
Experience with large and detailed data sets
Strong collaboration skills with network and clinical partners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with network, vendor, or partner-related work
Knowledge of different Aetna segments and how unique components within each LOB impact P&L
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$67,900.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
