Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

We currently have two openings for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager here at Magna Electronics in Holly, MI. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads and oversees the engineering team within Post/SMT or Final Assembly. These teams are responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production, and maintaining high product quality. This role involves the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems and workflows. The manager will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing waste, and improving product yield by applying Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process optimization techniques. In addition to managing day-to-day engineering activities, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with production, quality assurance, design, and supply chain teams to drive innovation and meet production targets. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a similar industry.
  • Prior experience with SMT is preferred for the Post/SMT Manufacturing Engineering Manager role.
  • Expertise in optimizing manufacturing processes and improving operational efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma/Smart X methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Proven experience working with cross functional teams to complete daily tasks and projects.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

  • Lead and oversee the manufacturing engineering team to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure efficient production.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing systems and workflows.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process optimization techniques to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, design, and supply chain, to drive innovation and meet production targets.
  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues.
  • Oversee development of documentation, such as standard operating procedures and work instructions, to ensure consistent and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team and across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Monitor the performance of the manufacturing engineering team and provide feedback and coaching to drive performance excellence.
