Senior Platform/Product Engineer

Position Overview

We're seeking a passionate Senior Platform/Product Engineer dedicated to elevating

developer experiences and empowering engineering teams across Sun Life.

Must-Have Skills

Core Technical Expertise

• 7+ years of production-level software development experience

• Strong backend development proficiency:

o Node.js (required)

o TypeScript (required)

o Java (required)

• Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern DevOps

patterns

• Ability to write clean, efficient code and automation across the full software

lifecycle

• Design, code, test, debug, and document software solutions that meet business

needs

Collaboration & Communication

• Strong communication skills to gather requirements from Sun Life communities

and articulate platform vision

• Proven ability to partner with domain SMEs (Delivery Teams, Software

Engineers, Security, Cloud/Infrastructure teams)

• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on analyzing, designing, and delivering

powerful features

Nice-to-Have Skills

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Full DevOps tooling expertise:

o Git (Bitbucket/GitHub)

o Jenkins

o Ansible

• AWS cloud experience

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Security stack familiarity (SonarQube, Snyk, Checkmarx)

Developer Experience Platforms (highly appealing but not mandatory)

• Backstage.io framework experience

• Internal Developer Portal development or customization

• Building/integrating internal platforms

• Backstage plugin development using TypeScript, Node.js (React a bonus)

Frontend Development (Bonus)

• JavaScript/React.js experience

• UI/UX sensibilities

Additional Skills

• RESTful API design and implementation
