About the role
At Reflect, you will be expected to move fast, have a lot of ownership and, most importantly, be able to effect change. If this excites you, we are interested in hearing about your best work and accomplishments across any domain and from any points in your life.
About the Role
As an Avionics Engineer, you will have zero to one design ownership of electronic subsystems on our first spacecraft. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing and improving reliable space-ready components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working on spacecraft.
Responsibilities
Own avionics system-level design & interfaces and make system-level trades
Prototype, design, bring up and validate flight computers, communication systems, and electronics for power systems and ADCS
Establish best practices and tooling for electrical engineering design
Develop in-house avionics test infrastructure – flatsat, GPS sim, power sim, comms sim, etc.
Design and execute avionics qualification testing for vibration, shock, thermal and thermal vacuum environments and own your hardware into flight operation
Ideal Qualifications
You have 4–6 years of avionics or electronics engineering experience, ideally on spacecraft.
You’ve designed and validated PCBAs for the space environment or similar high performance environments/vehicles
You’ve owned multiple high-reliability electronics subsystems from concept to deployment
You can succeed with a high level of autonomy
You’ve iterated on requirements and architecture to achieve an optimal design in a highly constrained trade space
You have experience hacking and crawling through electronics systems to troubleshoot issues
Even if you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, we are likely still interested in hearing from you. Hiring exceptional individuals is our #1 priority, and we believe that exceptional people often have highly unusual backgrounds.
We are also interested in carving out unique roles for unconventional people that we are excited about working with.
