About the client:
Our customer is the European online car market with over 30 million monthly users, with a market presence in 18 countries. As a Senior Citrix Cloud DaaS Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online car markets and enhancing the user experience for millions of car buyers and sellers.
Project Overview
We require a Senior Citrix Cloud DaaS Engineer to support and optimize an existing Citrix Cloud environment integrated with AWS, and to lead the rollout of a new Windows Server 2025 VDA delivery group into production. The environment includes Citrix Cloud (no on-prem ADC), AWS-hosted workloads, on-prem VDAs and Cloud Connectors, and Citrix UPM with VHD/VHDX-based profile containers backed by Windows file servers.
This is a hands-on senior role focused on deployment, performance optimization, and complex troubleshooting, particularly around profile management and logon performance.
Requirements
- EDT Timezone work hours
- Extensive hands-on experience (typically 5+ years) with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
- Proven Citrix Cloud (DaaS) production experience
- Experience supporting AWS-hosted Citrix environments
- Strong expertise with:
- Citrix Profile Management (UPM) with container-based profiles (VHD/VHDX)
- Profile performance tuning, logon optimization, and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated experience with:
- VDA lifecycle management and OS upgrades (e.g., 2016 → newer versions)
- MCS provisioning and golden image management
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across:
- Logon delays (GPO, profile load, authentication)
- SMB/file server performance impacting profiles
- Strong knowledge of:
- Knowledge of the latest Windows Server OS versions, such as 2022/2025, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS
- AWS experience
- PowerShell scripting for administration and automation
- At least upper-intermediate English level
Responsibilities
- Lead rollout of Windows Server 2025 VDA delivery group
- Review and optimize the existing Citrix Cloud + AWS architecture
- Review current VDA images, provisioning (MCS), and patching strategy
- Troubleshoot and resolve:
- UPM container issues (locking, slow load, corruption)
- Session performance and stability issues
- Optimize:
- Logon times and profile performance
- Citrix policies (HDX, user experience)
- Provide senior-level escalation support and root cause analysis
- Document environment, processes, and best practices
