Material Coordinator
Location: Manufacturing Environment
Schedule: Full-time
PPE Required: Steel‑toe shoes and eye protection (additional PPE as needed)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Materials Coordinator to support production operations by ensuring timely material flow, accurate inventory management, and safe handling of incoming and outgoing goods. This role works closely with production, materials management, engineering, purchasing, and warehouse teams to keep the plant running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities (80%)
- Ensure production material needs are met efficiently and on time.
- Stock received purchase orders (POs) to point-of-use locations.
- Place purchase orders for assigned parts, including C‑items and inventory; review exception reports to ensure timely delivery and communication with production teams.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including cycle counts, system updates, troubleshooting discrepancies, and supporting root‑cause resolution.
- Participate in Kanban setup and maintenance (bin setup, card creation, stocking).
- Maintain accuracy in all material transactions within our ERP systems, understanding the financial impact of inventory entries.
- Coordinate service orders—entering sales orders, communicating with production, updating inventory, and preparing parts for shipment.
- Follow all safety standards, including forklift inspection, housekeeping, and safe handling of materials, storage racks, and trailers.
Department-Specific Responsibilities (20%)
- Communicate effectively across departments—materials, management, accounting, purchasing, engineering, assembly, customer service, and vendors.
- Audit incoming materials for counts and quality; involve engineering when needed.
- File and maintain all required documentation according to retention requirements.
- Assist in training employees on Kanban and MRD processes.
- Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High School diploma or GED.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adjust workflow to meet business needs.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of part usage and basic measuring/math skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Vantage/Epicor and UPS shipping software.
- Forklift certification.
- Knowledge of MRD processes, Kanban system, expense vs. inventory parts, and cycle counting procedures.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment; non–air conditioned.
- Regular standing, walking, lifting, and use of hands/arms throughout the day.
Compensation Information:
$19.00 per hour
