About the role
Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel’s 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building’s legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan – a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.
We are seeking an exceptional hospitality leader to become the heart of our guest experience. As Director of Front Office, you'll set the tone the moment a guest walks through our doors, crafting warm, memorable arrivals and departures that define what luxury truly feels like. If you lead with elegance, inspire teams, and believe every interaction is an opportunity to delight, we want to meet you.
Role of Director of Front Office:
- Own the end-to-end guest journey — from a genuinely warm welcome to a seamless farewell that leaves a lasting impression.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Front Office team, maintaining impeccable service standards at every touchpoint.
- Champion personalised guest experiences, handling VIP requests, special occasions, and surprise-and-delight initiatives with creativity and care.
- Oversee all Front Office operations — staffing, scheduling, upsell programmes, and real-time resolution of any guest concerns before departure.
- Act as the connective tissue between departments — collaborating closely with Housekeeping, F&B, and beyond to deliver seamless, cohesive hospitality.
- Monitor guest feedback and reviews, identifying trends and implementing innovative improvements with the Director of Operations.
- Ensure the team is always equipped with current knowledge of rates, promotions, and the rich cultural fabric of Washington, DC.
- Drive performance, coach talent, and build a culture where service excellence is both expected and celebrated.
Who you are:
- You bring warmth, charisma, and genuine passion for hospitality — this is non-negotiable.
- A seasoned luxury hotel professional with at least 4 years of progressive front office management experience.
- Exceptionally calm under pressure — you smile while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- A skilled communicator, both in the spoken word and in writing, who listens as carefully as they speak.
- Proficient in Opera, MICROS, KnowCross, and MS Office; comfortable adapting to evolving hotel management platforms.
- A natural mentor who lifts people up, builds accountability, and models the service standards you set.
- Strategically minded — you don't just solve today's problem, you design systems to prevent tomorrow's.
