Description of Work
This position is located at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind and involves highly skilled work in the maintenance, repair, modification, design, and installation of complex electronic systems and devices used to support educational, instructional, and operational functions. Salary Range $45,431.00 - $79,504.00
Design work is differentiated from the Electronics Technician I level by less reliance on standard circuitry and routine modifications and greater reliance on the adaptation and modification of electronic circuitry to perform new, specialized, or unusual functions. Positions may consult with faculty, instructional staff, and technical personnel to determine requirements for electronic teaching aids, assistive technology devices, research instruments, or specialized communication systems supporting students who are blind or visually impaired.
Maintenance and repair are performed on both custom-designed devices and complex electronic systems where troubleshooting challenges are increased due to interconnected components and limited documentation. Schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, or repair manuals may be incomplete or unavailable. Work is evaluated based on the effectiveness of system design, reliability of equipment, timeliness of repairs, and the ability to support instructional and campus technology needs.
