Role Summary
The China Supply Chain Strategy Director is responsible for shaping and driving the long term supply chain strategy for the China market. This role leads strategic planning, network design, transformation initiatives, and capability development to enhance competitiveness, resilience, and operational excellence across the end to end supply chain.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Supply Chain Strategy Development

  • Lead the formulation and execution of China supply chain strategy aligned with global and APAC strategic priorities.
  • Conduct market, competitive, and capability assessments to identify long‑term opportunities and strategic risks.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps covering footprint optimization, capacity planning, sourcing strategy, and digital transformation.

2. Network Design & Optimization

  • Evaluate end‑to‑end network performance, including manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics flows.
  • Drive network modeling, scenario planning, and cost‑to‑serve analysis to support strategic investment and footprint decisions.
  • Recommend network redesign or expansion strategies to meet business growth and service requirements.

3. Transformation & Strategic Programs

  • Lead major cross‑functional strategic initiatives such as supply chain transformation, productivity programs, and resilience improvement.
  • Establish program governance, KPIs, milestones, and change‑management frameworks to ensure measurable results.
  • Partner with regional and global teams to ensure strategic alignment and resource coordination.

4. Supply Ecosystem & Capability Building

  • Assess supplier landscape and collaborate with procurement to shape long-term sourcing and supplier strategy in China.
  • Drive capability building initiatives including digital tools adoption, process standardization, and analytics maturity.
  • Champion best‑practice sharing and continuous improvement across China supply chain organizations.

5. Business Case Development & Decision Support

  • Develop financial models, cost-benefit analyses, and investment proposals for key strategic decisions.
  • Provide senior leadership with insights and recommendations for footprint investments, supply shifts, and risk mitigation.
  • Support preparation of strategy reviews, executive updates, and board-level presentations.

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Influence senior stakeholders across Operations, Quality, Procurement, Planning, Commercial, Finance, and Global Supply Chain.
  • Represent China supply chain strategy in regional and global forums.
  • Coach and mentor team members; cultivate a culture of innovation, rigor, and strategic thinking.

Job Requirements

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Business.
  • Master’s degree or MBA is strongly preferred.

2. Professional Experience

  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, strategy, transformation, operations, or manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years in strategic roles, such as network design, supply chain strategy, business transformation, or consulting.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale cross-functional programs in complex, matrixed multinational environments.
  • Experience with China manufacturing, sourcing, regulatory environment, and logistics ecosystem preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital supply chain, automation, analytics, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).

3. Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in network modeling, scenario planning, and strategic analysis.
  • Solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain processes and performance levers.
  • Proficiency in ERP and supply chain systems (SAP/Oracle), planning tools (APS), and visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau).
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills, capable of developing investment cases and complex models.

4. Leadership & Competencies

  • Strong strategic thinking and structured problem‑solving.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated change‑management capability and program leadership.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.
  • High integrity, resilience, and ownership mindset.

5. Language & Other Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
