About the role
Job Description:
- Define and drive the global Trade, Compliance & Shipping Operations strategy aligned with business objectives
- Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations (customs, export control, sanctions) and act as governance owner for these areas
- Establish and standardize end-to-end shipping and trade processes across the organization
- Lead risk management activities related to logistics, trade compliance, and geopolitical developments
- Define and monitor key KPIs (cost, lead time, compliance, service level) and drive performance improvement initiatives
- Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities in transport and trade operations
- Ensure proactive monitoring and implementation of legislative and regulatory changes impacting trade and shipping
- Act as key interface with senior management on trade compliance, logistics performance, and risk exposure
- Drive supplier and freight forwarder strategy, including selection, performance management, and cost control
- Ensure alignment and coordination across functions (Procurement, Planning, Production, Sales, Stock) for efficient execution
- Lead and develop the team, focusing on capability building, ownership, and accountability
- Support strategic projects (network optimization, process digitalization, automation)
- Ensure audit readiness and compliance governance across all operations
- Drive continuous improvement culture and transition from reactive to proactive operations
Professional experience & skills desired to have:
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, trade compliance, or supply chain, including leadership responsibility
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs, and global logistics networks
- Proven experience in defining and implementing processes and strategies
- Experience in stakeholder management at senior level
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Fluent in English, German is a strong plus
- Ability to manage complexity and drive change in a dynamic environment
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. D365) and reporting tools
