Meet the Team
The Technical Writing Team at Silicon Labs plays a pivotal role in creating, managing, and delivering high-quality technical documentation across software and hardware domains. As a Technical Writer II, you will drive documentation efforts, particularly in software documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with business and user goals.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—developers, product managers, and subject matter experts—to transform complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging, and structured content. This role requires technical depth, strong editorial skills, and a forward-thinking approach to content strategy, information architecture, and AI-assisted documentation.
Responsibilities
Documentation Leadership
- Own end-to-end software documentation, from planning to publication.
- Enforce documentation standards, style guides, and best practices.
- Maintain information architecture to ensure findability, scalability, and reusability of content.
- Edit and publish API documentation, SDK guides, developer documentation, and release notes.
- Drive release notes quality by ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency for diverse audiences.
- Use AI-assisted authoring tools to enhance documentation productivity and content quality.
- Work with Git architecture and modern version control systems for collaborative documentation workflows.
- Apply automation, scripting, or lightweight programming skills to streamline content management and delivery.
- Research and understand user needs to ensure documentation supports their tasks effectively.
- Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback, analytics, and usability studies.
Skills You Will Need
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, BCA, MCA, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical writing.
- Proven experience in creating and managing software documentation (APIs, SDKs, release notes).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Superior project management and stakeholder management expertise.
- Strong understanding of information architecture, content strategy, and version control (Git).
- Proficiency with the following tools and technologies:
- Git, Command-line interface
- HTML, Markdown
- Doxygen, C, C++
- DITA, CCMS, Oxygen XML Editor
- MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional
- Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, Visio
- Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools and technologies used to enhance productivity, analysis, and decision-making
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming knowledge (Python, JavaScript, or C/C++) is a plus.
- Experience in leveraging AI tools for content creation and quality assurance.
- Prior experience with semiconductor or embedded systems documentation.
- Familiarity with agile workflows, content automation, and continuous documentation practices.
- Experience in managing documentation projects within open-source communities.
