Job Description

Welcome to the Traegerhood:

Our business is BBQ, and business tastes good. Traeger invented the wood pellet grill over 30 years ago, and we’re fanatics who are dedicated to bringing people together to create a more flavorful world. From our headquarters in Salt Lake City, we work tirelessly to provide a world-class experience to our customers, retailers, and especially our employees. If you’re a team player who’s dedicated to delivering top-quality results every day, then we want you to come cook with us.

What You’ll Do:

Traeger is looking for an HR Generalist who brings energy, initiative, and a genuine commitment to setting our people up for success! This role is the operational heartbeat of the HR function — you’ll be the go-to resource for employees and managers across the company, owning the fundamentals of HR with precision and care. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, build relationships naturally, and take pride in getting the details right, this is your seat at the table.

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Schedule: Hybrid 3 days in office (M-W), 2 days remote

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Serve as a trusted, frontline HR partner for employees and managers across various business groups
  • Execute end-to-end onboarding and offboarding logistics, including background checks, I-9s, IT coordination, Day 1 communications, exit interviews, and systems offboarding
  • Support employees in navigating benefits questions, including general health plan information, open enrollment, and COBRA
  • Coordinate leave of absence programs, managing intake, monitoring, and return-to-work logistics
  • Handle workers’ comp intake and tracking, and support OSHA compliance reporting
  • Support compliance requirements including FLSA audits, SOX requests, and compliance training coordination
  • Process unemployment claims and respond to employment verification requests in a timely manner
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, automations, and emerging technologies to streamline HR workflows
  • Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS — processing lifecycle changes, EFM uploads, and personnel updates
  • Partner with HR leadership to ensure consistent application of HR policies and alignment with U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, including company events and volunteering activities
  • Own or support various People & Culture initiatives during your tenure (training, compliance, employee experience, feedback, reporting, etc.)
  • Grow into employee relations, engagement programs, and talent management as stretch opportunities in partnership with the Director of Talent Management

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR generalist or HR operations experience
  • Working knowledge of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA)
  • Hands-on HRIS experience (UKG preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Curiosity and comfort with AI tools and emerging technology.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP is a plus.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to every interaction
  • Build trusted relationships with employees and managers alike
  • Stay highly organized under a broad range of HR activities and initiatives
