The Group Leader is responsible for leading a group of production line operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on operational work with team leadership, coordination, and basic problem-solving to meet production targets and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of a production line group.
  • Operate production equipment when required and ensure smooth line operation.
  • Ensure production targets (output, quality, efficiency) are achieved according to plan.
  • Monitor workflow and line performance, identifying and addressing issues promptly.

Team Leadership

  • Guide, motivate, and support production line operators during shifts.
  • Assign tasks and ensure proper manpower coverage.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching for new and existing operators.
  • Act as the first point of contact for routine employee questions or concerns.

Quality & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Perform basic quality checks and ensure defects are identified and reported.
  • Enforce safety rules and safe work practices at all times.
  • Report incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to supervision.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Lean, waste reduction).
  • Suggest improvements to processes, layout, and work methods.
  • Participate in problem-solving related to downtime, scrap, and rework.

Reporting & Communication

  • Report production results, issues, and deviations to the Supervisor.
  • Record basic production data, downtime, and quality metrics.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure continuity of operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification an advantage).
  • 2–5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring operators is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Leadership and team-coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift materials within safety limits.
  • Comfortable working in a factory/production environment.
