The Group Leader is responsible for leading a group of production line operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on operational work with team leadership, coordination, and basic problem-solving to meet production targets and quality standards.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of a production line group.
- Operate production equipment when required and ensure smooth line operation.
- Ensure production targets (output, quality, efficiency) are achieved according to plan.
- Monitor workflow and line performance, identifying and addressing issues promptly.
Team Leadership
- Guide, motivate, and support production line operators during shifts.
- Assign tasks and ensure proper manpower coverage.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching for new and existing operators.
- Act as the first point of contact for routine employee questions or concerns.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Perform basic quality checks and ensure defects are identified and reported.
- Enforce safety rules and safe work practices at all times.
- Report incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to supervision.
Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Lean, waste reduction).
- Suggest improvements to processes, layout, and work methods.
- Participate in problem-solving related to downtime, scrap, and rework.
Reporting & Communication
- Report production results, issues, and deviations to the Supervisor.
- Record basic production data, downtime, and quality metrics.
- Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification an advantage).
- 2–5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring operators is preferred.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
Skills & Competencies
- Leadership and team-coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift materials within safety limits.
- Comfortable working in a factory/production environment.
