Job Description

Our client is looking for a dedicated and resilient Family Intervention Worker to join a high-performing team focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and families in Cheshire West And Chester. This role is unique in its "whole-family" approach, delivering packages of intervention through the Team Around the Family (TAF) process to families with complex and multiple needs.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Duty Response: Provide initial safety planning and support, responding both virtually and in person to emerging risks.
  • Holistic Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of children (0–19) and families, identifying both risk and protective factors through a systemic lens.
  • Evidence-Based Intervention: Deliver strength-based, trauma-informed interventions that align with the 'Our Way of Working' practice framework.
  • Plan Coordination: Develop and review multi-agency plans that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) and include safe contingency planning.
  • Advocacy & Partnership: Act as an advocate for families to reduce barriers to support services, collaborating with statutory, voluntary, and community organisations.
  • Meeting Leadership: Chair multi-agency meetings, ensuring inclusive participation and accurate documentation of timely decision-making.
  • Safeguarding Support: Contribute to Child Protection processes and, where appropriate, complete court-related work.
  • Documentation: Maintain high-quality, analytical, and child-focused records on the Integrated Children’s System (ICS).

Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Early Intervention Expertise: A strong understanding of the Families First Partnership framework and early intervention principles.
  • Relationship Skills: Proven ability to build strong, professional relationships with families and a wide range of partner agencies.
  • Analytical Writing: Skills to create written reports for various settings that are analytical, accessible, and keep the child’s lived experience at the heart.
  • Resilience: The ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and effectively manage competing priorities and complex family dynamics.
  • Inclusive Practice: A deep commitment to anti-discriminatory, equitable, and anti-racist practice.

Practice Culture:

  • Relational Approach: Practice is informed by trauma-aware principles and viewed through a systemic lens to ensure children remain at the heart of all work.
  • Reflective Practice: You will be expected to be a reflective practitioner, utilizing individual, group, and multi-agency supervision to continuously improve your practice.
  • Professional Development: You will have ownership of your own practice development, translating training and research into frontline implementation.

Our Client's Commitment:

  • Safeguarding: Cheshire West and Chester is committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: We positively challenge inclusion measures and promote a culture of diversity and equity for all children and families.
