Surface Management is a critical part of that platform—focused on helping customers understand, control, and optimise their mine in real time, including material movement, production tracking, and geospatial intelligence.  

The Opportunity 

We’re looking for a Solution Manager – Surface Management to own the delivery of MineStar’s surface management capabilities. 

This role sits at the intersection of customer value, product strategy, and engineering delivery. You will define what problems we solve and why, ensure alignment across global teams, and drive measurable outcomes for mining operations. 

What You’ll Do 

Own the Solution 

• Deliver on the Surface Management vision and roadmap aligned to MineStar strategy 

• Translate customer problems into clear, outcome-driven solution definitions 

• Drive development prioritisation based on economic impact, customer value, and strategic fit 

Lead Cross-Functional Delivery 

• Align Product Managers and Owners, Engineering, UX, and Data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions 

• Provide clarity on scope boundaries, MVP intent, and success criteria 

• Balance near-term delivery with long-term platform evolution 

Drive Customer Outcomes 

• Focus on measurable improvements such as: 

  • Material tracking accuracy 

  • Production visibility and optimisation 

  • Plan vs actual compliance 

• Ensure solutions deliver real operational value (not just features) 

Shape the Surface Management Domain 

• Lead evolution of capabilities such as: 

  • Digital terrain and surface models 

  • Real-time production and material tracking 

  • Geospatial intelligence and analytics 

• Contribute to broader MineStar initiatives 

Stakeholder Leadership 

• Partner with: 

  • Business stakeholders to define value and priorities 

  • Engineering to ensure feasible, scalable solutions 

  • Customers and sites to validate real-world impact 

• Act as the single point of accountability for the solution domain 

What You Bring 

Experience 

• Experience in mining, resource industries, or MineStar (highly desirable) 

• Proven track record in product management, solution management, or system-level leadership 

• Experience delivering complex, multi-system digital solutions

Capabilities 

• Strong problem framing and outcome-based thinking 

• Ability to operate across strategy and execution 

• Skilled at influencing across engineering, product, and business stakeholders 

• Comfort working in global, cross-functional teams 

Technical & Domain Depth 

• Understanding of one or more: 

  • Fleet management / production systems 

  • Geospatial / terrain / surface modelling 

  • Autonomous or semi-autonomous mining systems 

  • Data platforms and analytics

Additional Information:

• This position requires the candidate to work full-time in the Brisbane office.

• Caterpillar of Australia is not currently hiring foreign national applicants that require or will require sponsorship or looking for an ISE assessment.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
