The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Description of Work
The NC State Capitol Police is seeking motivated, community-minded individuals interested in a law-enforcement career to apply for our Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Cadet. Recruitment Salary Range: $46,673 - $55,000

About the Cadet Program
Candidates selected for cadet position will receive:
Full tuition and fees paid for Basic Law Enforcement Training
Required equipment and materials provided
Professional support and guidance throughout the academy experience
Duties After Certification
Upon successful completion of BLET, graduates will serve as State Capitol Police Officers, responsible for:
Patrol and security of state government buildings and grounds
Response to calls for service and emergencies
Traffic and pedestrian safety enforcement
Community engagement and public-service duties
Supporting state officials, employees, and visitors

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Necessary Special Qualifications
1.Must complete all requirements for an NC Probationary Law Enforcement Certification, including completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training, in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission within one year of employment.
2. Must be at least 20 years of age.
3. Possession of a valid NC Driver's License by start date of BLET class.
4. Have no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors.
