Job Description
Key job responsibilities
* Lead optical module design projects from concept through production
* Partner across engineering, manufacturing, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize project requirements while balancing diverse objectives
* Design and optimize optical architectures, components, and modules — including design considerations for system integration, material selection, manufacturability, assembly processes, test methods, reliability, and cost
* Perform simulations using first principles of geometrical optics and radiometry to analyze performance of machine vision systems
* Develop optical test plans — including qualification plans and acceptance criteria for volume production
* Conduct root cause analyses and implement mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle — including design modifications, calibration procedures, and compensation methods
* Manage relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, physics, or equivalent- 5+ years of experience in optical module development
- Experience developing functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional test procedures
- Knowledge of production optical module manufacturing processes (module construction, active alignment, image system metrology)
- Experience writing technical documents, project plans, and progress reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or above in engineering, physics, or equivalent- Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with simulation tools for optical analysis (Zemax or similar)
- Experience with prototyping techniques to enable testing platforms and validate design concepts
- Experience with computer vision techniques (geometric calibration, camera and projector homography)
- Familiarity with machine vision depth sensing modalities (time-of-flight, structured illumination, stereovision)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
