Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Performs complex maintenance and diagnostic services for carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and similar systems maintenance, repair or construction of county facilities or structures.
- Estimates and procures compatible materials and tools required to perform maintenance, repair and construction-related functions.
- Installs, maintains and repairs of surveillance systems.
- Maintains appropriate work records and documents, including work orders and formal and informal inspections.
- Prepares and processes daily work reports, inspection reports, work orders, requisitions, sketches, etc.
- Plans the layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Inspects facilities to identify maintenance and repair requirements and priorities.
- Respond to 24 hr. emergency and non-emergency service calls, diagnoses problems and makes minor repairs.
- Performs related work as required.
- Adequate attendance is required.
- Required to work in a detention facility performing facility maintenance.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience in performing building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, alarm systems and minor construction maintenance and repairs; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical Demands:
- Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment):
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
- Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
- Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
- Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.
- Traffic; Moving machinery.
- Electrical shock; Heights.
Proposed Compensation:
- $47,029.00 Annually
- $22.61 Hourly
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Required license(s) for specialized field.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English Language.
