Job Details:

Purpose 

The EI Research Senior Student Associate (Research SSA) works closely with EI staff to assist in development of a new website including marketing/digital design, writing content, and communicating with members of a research consortium for which the website will be created.  

Responsibilities 

  • Choosing website template, design, and color scheme.
  • Drafting copy, obtaining, and creating content to fill out the website.
  • Documenting all information needed for novice web programmers to be able to add content.

Required Qualifications 

  • Graduate or upper-division undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Ideal candidates are self-starters able to grasp complex subject matter quickly and work well with other student associate team members and EI staff 
  • Strong research and writing skills 
  • Experience with strategic engagement on social media platforms 
  • Experience with email, survey and event registration programs such as MailChimp, Qualtrics, and Eventbrite or similar 
  • Experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and either Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and Illustrator) 
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail 
  • Experience managing multiple projects and handling competing deadlines 
  • Willingness to perform a variety of duties and keep track of work for reporting progress to supervisors 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Graduate or upper-division undergraduate student in good academic standing in fields related to information sciences, marketing, communications, or public policy 
  • Demonstrated interest in energy-related research, economics, or policy. 
  • Experience in the following areas: 
    • Visual presentation and storytelling 
    • Photography and/or videography 
    • Creating and editing video content 
    • Event planning, graphic design, and copywriting public-facing content 
    • Updating websites in a CMS such as WordPress or Drupal 
    • Working in energy-related fields and/or in communications, public affairs, government, media, or similar organizations 
    • Working with professional staff in an office environment 
    • Strategy or process development

Salary Range 

$17+ per hour, depending on qualifications

  • The number of hours and the schedule for this position will be set by mutual agreement between the worker and manager.
