Job Description
 

The Senior Payroll Analyst reports to the Senior Manager of Payroll Operations and Customer Service.  The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for the execution of payroll processing, compliance, and customer service for employees in the United States.  The position requires the individual to be highly self-motivated, innovative, effectively multi-task, prioritize work, demonstrate accountability, and effectively collaborate with both internal and external business partners to perform towards best practice payroll solutions.  The Senior Payroll Analyst is accountable for ensuring all activities performed, align to best practice through increased use of technology enablers to create capacity, increase efficiency, quality, and ensure systems and internal controls adequately support U.S. payroll, employment taxes, all applicable labor laws, regulations, and company policies.

As a Sr. Payroll Analyst, at Gilead you will ... 

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the U.S. payroll team, including processing of expats, relocation, new hires, LOAs, benefits, terminations, tax inquiries, payroll helpdesk and employee changes as needed.

  • Monitor and respond to cases via the Employee Service Center ticketing system.

  • Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, finance policies (Controller’s Manual), and tax and labor law requirements are followed.

  • Support Year-end Processing

  • Responsible for the execution and delivery on payroll processing controls. 

  • Accountable for actively participating and enforcing the internal control environment over the financial as well as the business process aspects of the payroll business process. 

  • Perform payroll reporting, validations and manage complex payroll datasets

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes to increase efficiency

  • Promote a positive team environment.  Consistently demonstrate leadership and support to all payroll staff.

  • Demonstrate boldness and agility in execution, care and make time for people, speak openly and explain the “why”, trust others and yourself to make decisions, and own the impact of one’s words and actions. 

  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Five Years' Experience 

OR 

Masters' Degree and Three Years' Experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of proven experience within Payroll Operations and for a multi-national organization

  • Proficiency in Workday Payroll

  • CPP Certification

  • Ability to build partnerships with key business stakeholders and work cross functionally

  • Expert time management, problem-solving, and data analysis skills

  • Excellent communication skills, organization skills, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills

  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Visio, and Intermediate Excel) is required (i.e. vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Experience working in a global Finance organization

  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus

  • Strong written, presentation and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-national, changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Team player, positive attitude, and willingness to support payroll department’s goals and vision.
     


 

The salary range for this position is: $94,690.00 - $122,540.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
