What You’ll Do At Elekta


As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of Elekta’s advanced radiotherapy solutions across the Nordic region, with a primary focus on MR-Linac systems. Reporting to the Regional Service Manager, you will work independently to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support highly sophisticated medical technology that directly contributes to patient care.


This is a home-based position requiring frequent travel throughout the Nordic region and occasional travel outside the region. Due to the location of our clients, we prefer candidates who are based in southern Sweden. You will work closely with customers, colleagues, and technical support teams to deliver exceptional service and maintain strong long-term customer relationships. 


Responsibilities 

  • Install, commission, upgrade, and maintain Elekta systems, with a focus on MR-Linac solutions. 
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance and emergency corrective maintenance activities at customer sites. 
  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic, mechanical, networking, and software-related issues down to board and component level. 
  • Support customers through on-site visits, courtesy calls, and remote technical assistance. 
  • Manage service activities independently while ensuring timely escalation of complex technical issues when required. 
  • Complete service documentation, reports, and quality records accurately and on time. 
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Elekta quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Build strong relationships with customers through professional, responsive, and customer-focused support. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality and customer satisfaction. 
  • Promote service upgrades, system enhancements, and additional solutions where appropriate. 
  • Maintain technical expertise across Elekta's service portfolio through ongoing training and development. 
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance or training to colleagues when required. 
  • Support occasional weekend service activities, typically limited to business-critical customer needs.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Degree, HNC, technical diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or a related discipline. 
  • Demonstrated experience in field service, technical support, installation, or maintenance engineering environment. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities across complex electro-mechanical systems. 
  • Experience working with electronics, networking, PCs, servers, and Windows-based environments. 
  • Knowledge of high/low voltage systems, vacuum systems, RF technology, diagnostic equipment, or other advanced engineering disciplines is highly desirable. 
  • Ability to analyze problems systematically and identify effective solutions under pressure. 
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build credibility and trust with healthcare professionals. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of a Nordic language is advantageous. 
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and manage multiple service activities simultaneously. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 40% of the time throughout the Nordic region and occasionally internationally. 
  • Valid driving license.
