Job Summary
This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about scaling data accessibility. You will be at the forefront of building the "single source of truth" by developing enterprise-grade metrics in Looker. Key Responsibilities
- Metric Standardization: Define and build governed enterprise metrics within Looker to ensure consistency across all business units.
- LookML Development: Build, maintain, and optimize LookML models (views, explores, and dashboards) to create a seamless self-service experience.
- SQL Optimization: Develop and refine complex SQL queries to ensure high-performance data modeling and efficient warehouse utilization.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with HQ stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable "Explores" that allow non-technical users to build their own reports.
- Data Governance: Ensure data accuracy and consistency by validating Looker outputs against source systems and maintaining rigorous version control.
- Self-Service Enablement: Act as a subject matter expert, providing documentation and guidance to business users on how to leverage Looker features effectively.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize Looker performance, including PDT management and query caching strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2–4 years as a Data Analyst, BI Developer, or similar role.
- Looker Expertise: Hands-on experience with LookML (modeling, refinements, joins, and access filters) and building Looker dashboards.
- Advanced SQL: Proficiency in writing complex, performant SQL (window functions, CTEs, and optimization) for large-scale data warehouses.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to transform raw data into governed metrics that align with business KPIs.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to bridge the gap between technical data structures and business-friendly reporting.
- Data Proficiency: Experience working with large datasets and an understanding of dimensional modeling.
Good to Have
- Looker Certification: Looker Business Analyst or LookML Developer certification.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git workflows within a Looker environment.
- Wider BI Exposure: Experience with Tableau or Power BI to assist in legacy report migrations.
