Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.  We are searching for a vehicle reliability technician to be located in Dallas-Fort Worth. In this role, you will work closely with our site reliability engineers, vehicle service technicians, and vehicle operators to support the third shift of Vehicle Operations (6 PM - 4 AM CST). You will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and tracking all issues the autonomous vehicle fleet encounters while in the field.

In this role, you will

  • Provide technical support to vehicles that encounter software or hardware issues. 
  • Troubleshoot and perform general root cause analysis for common software and hardware faults across all quickly developing platforms. 
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations and product to improve product performance, drive down faults, and maximize test efficiency
  • Triage of vehicle issues providing data, analysis, and support to engineering teams to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Creation of run books to facilitate standard and accelerated troubleshooting
  • Perform sensor calibrations, fleet upgrades, and new platform bring-up 

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with the Linux Operating System in a support and troubleshooting capacity. 
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills from inception through documentation and closure
  • Experience working with various complex hardware and software systems including lidar, radar, cameras, and computers
  • Detail oriented self starter with strong desire to learn new skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across different teams, offices, and time zones
  • Ability to wear different hats and quickly multitask 
  • Excellent documentation skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related STEM field
  • Previous automotive or AV technical experience 
  • Deep understanding of computer networking systems
  • Programming skills (e.g Python, Go, C++, SQL)

The base hourly wage range for this position is $37.00-$47.00 per hour.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
